Skylark House care home in Horsham, Sussex provides a wide range of personalised care services for older people.

Our team delivers expert residential, dementia care, nursing care and short-term respite care. When the time comes, we also offer compassionate, non-intrusive end of life care, looking after everything, and allowing you to focus on your loved one.

Close to the centre of the picturesque town of Horsham, our care home also has some fantastic facilities, including a large, secure garden overlooking the riverside walk. We also have a bar and a cosy cinema where residents can watch their favourite films.

The dedicated and experienced team at Skylark House will provide your loved one with care that is completely tailored to their individual needs and wishes.

I’m in my element when I’m with residents and learning more about their lives – that’s the best part of what I do. Interacting with them and knowing I’m making a difference to their day is a great feeling. I also enjoy the compliance and governance part of my role. I start and finish every day with a smile, and that’s what makes me happy.

CQC Rating: Requires Improvement

We are working very hard to ensure that the service we provide is of the highest quality. We are aware that CQC have highlighted we need to make improvements to our service, we have a comprehensive service improvement plan in place to ensure we are acting to make changes that will be sustained and embedded. Much progress has already been made and it was reassuring to read that the inspectors found that the team care for people safely, with a kind and caring approach. Please ask the home manager if you wish to discuss the contents of our service improvement plan.

The staff are always very polite. They treat him really well and do everything they can to keep him at ease. When he is confused the staff are there to chat to him and reassure him. I am very happy with the care.

The building and interior are a pleasant environment. There are a lot of activities on which is great. Lovely secure garden. Good communal areas and pleasant to be in - it doesn't feel like an old peoples home.

I think their visiting pod is as good as it could possibly be. They've just been very understanding with a lot of phone calls from me. Care staff had been very excellent. They facilitated the visit for her as best they can. They are so kind and calming with her.

Mum suffers from advanced dementia and the staff go out of their way to help me find ways to communicate with her during lockdown. It has been her 90th birthday during lockdown and they made a real fuss of her, sharing photos of all her cards and of her opening her presents. When I visit she has a lovely smile for the staff when they come to get her. I can see she feels safe and happy with them even though she can’t tell me that.

Thank you so much for facilitating our visit to Mum yesterday. Fran and I were very impressed at the way the visit was organised and the way Mum was able to sit inside on her 'throne'. Throughout lockdown you have made it easy to pass on messages and parcels. You are all so friendly and in the years Mum has been with you she has become more happy, relaxed and content. We can't speak highly enough of the way you all look after our relatives.
